About Little Fishes Swim School

Little Fishes was founded in 2003 in Fourways, and we opened a second branch in Bryanston in 2009. We’re a family-run swim school with Swim South Africa certified, CPR trained instructors who care deeply about your child’s growth, both in and out of the pool. All our baby and toddler classes are guided by the TodSwim national programme. Every class is designed to build trust, develop skills at each child’s pace, and celebrate small victories along the way.

Our swimming programmes

Baby Fishes (6 months–3 years) — Bonding, water comfort & safety

Our Baby Fishes classes are guided by the TodSwim national programme, designed to help little ones feel at home in the water. Parents join in every lesson, learning how to support their child’s comfort and confidence through songs, play, and gentle guidance.

Focus points: early water familiarity, gentle breath control, parent-baby bonding, safe introduction to submersion.

Class size: 4–6 parent-child duos. 1x/week: R2,810 per term. 2x/week: R4,760 per term (a R800 saving over paying for two single sessions). Registration: R400 once-off.

Learn to Swim (3y+) — Confidence, independence & safety

With only two to three children per instructor, our Learn to Swim classes ensure focused attention and quick progress. Children learn essential safety and swimming skills through playful, positive sessions that build lasting confidence.

Focus points: water safety and self-rescue, floating, paddling and breath control, safe pool entry and exit, confidence through play.

1x/week: R2,992 per term. 2x/week: R5,620 per term. Registration: R400 once-off.

Stroke Development (6y+) — Technique, endurance & precision

Once swimmers are water safe, we focus on refining strokes for efficiency and endurance. Children progress from our 15m pool to our 25m pool, preparing for galas or club-level swimming through positive coaching and teamwork.

Focus points: stroke correction and breathing rhythm, endurance and control, turns, starts and performance skills, preparation for Crusaders Swimming Club.

2x/week: R3,176 per term. Registration: R400 once-off.

Pre-Club / Squad — Training & prep for competitive swimming

For swimmers ready to take their skills to the next level, our Squad programme runs in partnership with the Crusaders Swimming Club, developing strength, endurance and advanced technique over distance while preparing swimmers for competitive club-level swimming.

Focus points: building endurance and strength over distance, perfecting stroke efficiency and competitive starts, learning how to track and improve times, understanding race discipline and sportsmanship, preparing for South African club-level swimming.

4x/week: R3,370 per term. NB: Crusaders club fee not included. Registration: R400 once-off.

Little Fishes Swim School in Fourways, Johannesburg offers swimming lessons for children from 6 months old, taught by Swim South Africa certified, CPR trained instructors. We’ve been teaching in Fourways since 2003, and instructors teaching baby and toddler classes are guided by the TodSwim national programme.

How many children are in each class?

Learn-to-Swim and Stroke Development classes have 2-3 children per instructor. Baby classes have 4-6 parent-child duos per instructor, with a parent in the water throughout.

How much do swimming lessons cost in Fourways?

Lessons run from R2,810 per term, with a once-off R400 registration fee. Exact pricing depends on the programme and how many sessions a week — see our programme pages for full details.

What are your opening hours, term dates and parking like?

Monday to Friday: 12:30PM – 6PM. Saturday: 8AM – 12PM. Closed for the year from 15 December 2026. There’s ample parking on-site, and the property is safe and secure. Little Fishes Swim School, Fourways and Bryanston, Johannesburg — not to be confused with any similarly named swim school elsewhere.

Is your pool heated? Yes — our Fourways pool is indoor and heated year-round, so lessons stay comfortable whatever the Johannesburg weather is doing.

Parking: There’s ample parking on-site, and the property is safe and secure.

Nearby areas and schools: We’re based in Norscot Manor, Fourways, and welcome families from right across the Fourways area, including Dainfern, Broadacres and Witkoppen. We’re also close to a number of local schools, including Crawford International Fourways, Fourways High School, Curro Fourways and Laugh & Learn Fourways.
